Our 3rd Season of Summer Programs

FAIRFIELD STRENGTH: Functional Movement, Speed and Agility Programs

Celebrating our third year of working with the Fairfield Recreation Department to provide the highest quality strength and fitness programs. Have fun, get fit, and improve your functional strength, speed and agility during these 4 or 8 week total body exercise programs directed by George Gomola, PFT, RKC, Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Men's Soccer Program at Sacred Heart University. With the help of an exceptionally talented staff, Coach Gomola has developed special Fitness for Life prescription exercise programs designed to help meet your or your children's personal fitness goals. Our programs boost self confidence and improve the participants overall fitness level in a fun, non-competitive, environment. We start each program with a movement screen, implement some corrective exercise, and then begin work on strength, speed, and agility. The Functional Movement and the Speed and Agility programs are designed for both athletes and non-athletes. They will help you prepare for fall sports, school physical fitness evaluations, or life, by improving our ability to move better, becoming stable and strong. No child will be denied participation in any of these programs due to financial hardship. Scholarships are available on a case basis. Please contact George Gomola, Program Director at fairfieldstrength@gmail.com . Information about our programs is available at http://fairfieldstrength.blogspot.com/.

STRENGTH TRAINING: Functional Conditioning

Improve the way you move. Get strong; improve flexibility and stability, correct asymmetries. Each program starts with the Functional Movement Screen to identify your current level of functional movement. Based on your score we prescribe a program of corrective exercise to provide a strong, stable foundation. We then learn or re-learn proper movement patterns using TRX suspension training, kettlebells, body weight exercise, and fitness equipment. Then we load the movement patterns to build strength and power. The program takes place at the Roger Ludlowe Middle School Fitness Center for the morning and afternoon classes and at Ludlowe High School fitness center for the evening program. Participants will be prescribed an individual exercise program utilizing a combination of exercise machines, free weights (dumbbells and barbells), and core training exercises designed to improve strength, flexibility, and increase lean muscle mass. Emphasis will be on learning proper form and technique to insure a safe and productive training experience. Strength training boosts metabolism and lessens the risk of injuries. Participants will notice a significant improvement in overall health and muscle tone. All sessions are open those entering grade 6 and up. Classes may be cancelled or combined depending on enrollment.

Session 1 – Tue and Thurs June 30 – July 23 (8 classes) Cost $199, Session 2 – Tues and Thurs July 28-August 20 (8 classes) Cost $199

SAVE $100! – Sign up for both sessions and attend 16 classes for only $298.

Do you want to go FAST? Did you know that 30% of your speed comes from arm movement? Speed is a technical skill that can be improved through proper training. Did you know that the difference between a world class athlete and other athletes can be determined by how quickly their muscles can move from relaxation to complete tension and back? Did you know that the ability to tense and relax muscles can be improved through training? Did you know many athletic injuries are predictable? Functional movement screens can identify asymmetries, stability and flexibility movement problems that predispose athletes to risk of injury. Once identified corrective strategies can be used to fix what is broke before adding fitness to dysfunction. This 8-week program combines a functional movement screen, corrective strategies, technical speed training, reactive neuromuscular programming and propreception training to provide a system approach to athletic development and performance enhancement. We use speed ladders, kettlebells, TRX, plyometrics, dynamic stretching, and explosive medicine ball training to create a unique fitness prescription that will improve strength, agility, quickness, and speed. Program will also include ACL injury prevention exercises designed to reduce risk of ACL injury in female athletes. Target audience for this program is for male and female athletes preparing for the Fall Season or any anyone looking to improve overall athletic performance. Cost - $195
